The Designated Areas Protection Unit Unit is responsible for
- Compensation for losses incurred due to restrictions put in place as a result of nature conservation designation (including the Cessation of Turf-cutting Compensation Scheme).
- Implementation of Arbitration scheme arising from notifiable actions.
- Acquisition of lands outside of National Parks or Nature Reserves.
- Administration of Site Protection for Sites formally proposed for designation, including legal proceedings.
